Youth groups at McCreary

McCreary currently supports five groups which engage young people in projects that promote youth health and well-being in BC. Each group has a specific area of focus, takes on unique types of projects, and has different eligibility criteria for joining. Explore each of these groups to learn more about their projects and to browse recent projects they have led.

Youth Advisory & Action Council

Who: Youth ages 15–24 who live in the Lower Mainland and are passionate about improving youth health in BC.


What: Volunteer group that meets virtually and in-person to provide youth perspectives on McCreary's work and leads their own projects about youth health issues that matter to them.

Youth Advisory Council on Health & Wellness

Who: BC youth in Grades 8–12 with a range of experiences vaping, smoking, or using other nicotine products.


What: Online group to inform BC government decisions about vaping, tobacco, and other youth health issues.

Youth Health Ambassadors

Who: Youth in Grades 7–12 from across BC who are interested in making sure youth have a voice in the programs and decisions that affect them.


What: Online group that are trained to have conversations with peers to gather their perspectives on important youth health topics.

Youth Research Academy

Who: Youth ages 16–27 with experience in the government care system in BC who are living in the Lower Mainland.


What: In-person, 10-month cohort program to learn community-based research skills and conduct research projects related to youth in and from care.

Young Indigenous Research Team

Who: A group of Indigenous young people who are alumni of the Youth Research Academy program.


What: Project-based team that conducts research to support the health and well-being of Indigenous youth in BC.
