Taking Pride FAQ

Taking Pride is a healthy relationships workshop designed to be facilitated with 2SLGBTQ+ youth aged 12–19 in BC. This includes in schools (e.g., with Gender & Sexuality Alliances) and with community-based youth groups (e.g., 2SLGBTQ+ drop-in program).

The Taking Pride workshop is led by trained staff from McCreary and can be conducted online or in person, anywhere in BC. It is designed to be delivered in either a full-day format or divided into two half-day sessions.

The workshop is free of charge, and includes all workshop materials for participants.

In addition to participating in an evidence-based program that supports 2SLGBTQ+ youth to build knowledge and skills to foster healthy relationships, youth who participate in the workshops have the option to complete a confidential and anonymous survey before, after, and in the months following the workshop. This survey helps us to better understand what, if any, impacts Taking Pride has had on knowledge, skills, and behaviour change among those who take part. Youth who take part in the surveys will receive a gift card for each survey they complete ($15, $15, and $20, respectively) as a thank-you for their time.
